Wedding Profile: Spring Wedding in Coral and Deep Teal at Salvage One

Revisiting M&M’s late June wedding from last year puts a smile on my face!  As always, Tim Tab Studios captured the wedding beautifully.

For the bride’s garden-style bouquet, coral peonies, poppies, ranunculus, and garden roses were the focal flowers in a loose yet lush style of bouquet.

Wedding Profile: Salvage One Winter Wedding in Blush and Gold

As winter comes around again, I’m reminded of the streak of lovely winter weddings we had at Salvage One early this year!  Many thanks to Anna Guziak for the beautiful photography and to Five Grain Events for their seamless organization of Lauren and Kevin’s wedding.  Their wedding flowers and decor had a vintage, elegant look, in blush, champagne, ivory, gold and silver.  The bridesmaids wore amazing sequined dresses and carried coordinating but not identical bouquets in ivory, champagne, blush, and grey.

2013 Recap: Summer Wedding Flowers

Continuing our recap of last year by season, below are some highlights we captured of our wedding work last summer.  Summer ushers in some of my favorite local blooms such as dahlias, coxcomb, and cosmos.  Some of my favorites from the neighboring seasons are also available, such as peonies from spring and berried branches from fall.

Summer centerpieces at South Branch Tavern

For longer tables, a pair of arrangements down their length is more appropriate than a single centerpiece. These tables at South Branch Tavern were decorated with low and lush arrangement in white, featuring hydrangea and peonies.

Colorful summer centerpieces.

These bright and cheerful centerpieces at Uncommon Ground decorated the tables. Summer bloom such as sunflowers, hydrangea, and cornflowers provided a pop of color.

For the head table, we created terrariums with succulents and a sunflower, which the mothers of the bride and groom kept as a memento of the wedding day.

A variety of elements comprised the tablescape for the escort card table at this wedding at Room 1520. Vintage bottles with blooms and vintage boxes with wheatgrass added a cozy touch.

2013 Recap: Spring Wedding Flowers

In this blustery winter weather, it’s refreshing to see these photos from last spring!  Spring wedding flowers offer up delightful blooms such as peonies, ranunculus, anemones, tulips, narcissus…  And I love flowering branches of all types: lilac, forsythia, cherry blossoms, crabapple, quince, and snowball viburnum, to name a few.  Admittedly, a couple of these weddings were technically in early summer, but the flowers are more characteristic of spring.

We were just thrilled to be a part of an amazing creative team of Indie Wed vendors who contributed to this styled photo shoot of Geometric Wedding Inspiration on 100 Layer Cake’s blog.  Thanks to Kelly at Indie Wed for inviting Pollen to be a part of it!  And thanks to Amanda Megan Miller Photography for capturing everything so beautifully!  Here’s a sample of the loveliness to be found in the full post.

Wedding Profile: Refined Roadside Wedding Flowers

I absolutely loved Colleen’s description of the look she was going for with her wedding flowers: refined roadside.  Love, love, loved it.  AKA: English garden gone wild.  Thank you to Dawn E. Roscoe Photography for the beautiful photos!

The bridal bouquet featured some of my very favorite blooms of spring.  Flowering dogwood in a bridal bouquet? Yes, please!  Also, Juliet garden roses, peonies, stock, dusty miller, and lily of the valley.  Colleen loved lily of the valley, and I was so excited when the season cooperated and I was able to snag locally grown lily of the valley for her bouquet and Onur’s boutonniere.  The season for it is so very brief, but we got it!

The bridesmaids’ bouquets had a bit more color to them, and they contained spray roses, Juliet garden roses, peonies, dahlias, scabiosa, and stock.  I love the color scheme, or lack thereof.

The centerpieces were low and sprawling displays in recycled glass containers.

Congratulations to Collen and Onur!  For more photos of the wedding, visit the post on Dawn E. Roscoe’s blog.

Understated Luxury: Inspired Creations Contest Entry

I recently had the pleasure of working with Kelly from Paper Stories and Indie Wed, Stevi from Avery House, and Lauren from Ryan Alexander Events on an entry for the Inspired Creations Contest sponsored by The Sweetest Occasion and Elizabeth Anne Designs.  Thanks to Room 1520 for providing the location and the model (thanks, Haley!) and to Shannon of Plate for her assistance and for lending out some of Plate’s vintage plate collection!

This was an exciting chance for me to explore some new techniques, such as using a floral frog for the centerpiece (actually a very old technique!).  Also, I got to work in the naturalistic style which I have come to love.

Please visit the Sweetest Occasions blog to see more and leave comments!  The winner will be selected on criteria including the comments left on the Sweetest Occasions blog (*hint, hint*)

Wedding Profile: All Pink, and All Peonies!

I loved this all pink, all peony wedding.  Okay, okay…  I used some white orchids for the boutonnieres and corsages.  Peonies would be a bit large for pinning on, after all!

Bridal Bouquet of Pink Peonies

Peony Bridal Bouquet

This was a day wedding for a bride who was truly a dream to work with.  At the initial consultation, we talked about keeping it simple and soft, and landed on using only peonies.  No greenery.  No accents.  Just peonies, in a range of pink, from light to dark.  Just peonies for the bridal bouquet, the bridesmaids’ bouquets, and the centerpieces.

Peony Wedding Centerpiece

Peony Centerpiece

The centerpieces, like the bouquets, were just peonies in a mix of shades of pink.  I recently added the recycled glass vases to my rental inventory.  I really like them because they have a strong presence, and because of the small opening, don’t require a ton of flowers (and a ton of money) to fill.  The pink peonies helped to soften the otherwise somewhat masculine space at Salvatore’s.

Such a pretty and simple look for spring!
